Job Summary:

The Shamokin Creek Restoration Alliance is seeking to fill the position of Project Coordinator to oversee and carry out the responsibilities of a Joint Collaborative Problem Solving Grant from the EPA’s Office of Environmental Justice and External Civil Rights.  The position will be for a duration of November 2024 through March 31, 2027 and will be based in Shamokin, PA.  The Project Coordinator is responsible for building collaborative relationships between various community and environmental groups operating in the City of Shamokin and surrounding areas with the goal of identifying and implementing project priorities that address environmental and environmental justice concerns.  The Project Coordinator will be based out of an office located in Shamokin to provide a community presence for the collaborating groups in the city and surrounding municipalities.

Job Duties:

  • Coordinate between communities, non-profits, municipalities, and educational institutions to create partnerships and projects

  • Attend community organization meetings 

  • Coordinate a volunteer system

  • Convene monthly meetings of our Advisory Board

  • Work with the Advisory Board to identify project priorities and facilitate their implementation

  • Create budgets for project implementation and ensure projects fall within budget requirements and guidelines

  • Work with accountants or other designated oversight parties for budget support and auditing purposes

  • Compile information and data about activities to meet grant requirements

  • Answer phones/emails, while interacting with area residents and being a brick-and-mortar presence in the community

  • Compose and submit EPA required reports

Qualifications:

  • Excellent written, verbal and interpersonal skills

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Google Suites, and Zoom

  • Experience with grant writing and administration

  • Experience with budget management 

  • A bachelor’s degree or appropriate experience

Salary:

Salary is up to $55,000 per year for an 11-month contract, renewable until the grant period is concluded on March 31, 2027.  The preferred candidate will agree to work as an Independent Contractor.
